Two club members did particularly well in the Australia Wide Pairs contest held in August across 100+ clubs and 1600+ pairs.Greg Buist and Peter Reed finished in the top 50 overall.What is extra amazing is that they are not long out of our beginner lessons - a fact reflected in them being named in the top five pairs in the event with under 100 master points each. A charity bridge day was held at our club on April 15 - it was great to see such a good number of tables and fun was had by all (especially Anne Hill). Winners on the Day were Maureen and Lance (highest scoring), Evelyn and Linda (North / South) and visitors from Castlemaine (East / West). All up the day raised $1000 for the Woodend Cemetary Trust and we got lots of good ideas to improve our next such event. . . .

A Back to Bridge day was held on the 18th March this year, the original idea by Connie Albany- to invite back to the club those we had not seen for a while. It was a great success (and something we should do again). About 16 people - old and new rocked up to hear a short talk by Rex on the basics of the game, then stayed to chat over fresh sandwiches and brownies (thanks to Connie, Maureen, Linda, Pauline and Wendy).
